1. Dear Colleagues,

In the future the Secretariat of the World Association for Buiatrics would like to prepare newsletters in order to be able to give up-to-date information’s to the members of the Executive Committee of the WAB, the National Associations affiliated to the WAB and the correspondents from different countries not having national associations.
The importance of the XXV Jubilee World Buiatrics Congress held in Budapest this July requires that we start to prepare our newsletter before the Congress.
You will be kindly requested to send news for the newsletter in the future.

2. News from the XXV Jubilee World Buiatrics Congress (WBC), which will be opened almost within a month

We are very pleased to inform you that in the history of the World Buiatrics Congresses, this is the first time that 1,377 abstracts have been submitted. Until now, the highest number of submitted abstracts (over 1,000), was for the Nice congress in 2006. 408 of the number were selected for oral presentations and 29 key-note lectures will be given. There will be 6 parallel sections and simultaneous translations (English, German, French, Spanish, Hungarian) in the main three auditoriums (Blue, Yellow and Red Halls). The fourth section (Purple Hall) is dedicated mainly to small ruminants, buffaloes, camelids, good veterinary practice, and food hygiene while the fifth section (Green Hall) to the IV Symposium of the European College of Bovine Health Management and the IX Middle European Buiatrics Congress. The sixth section (Brown Hall) will be used for free workshops where some very important topics (Fertility problems, Perinatal mortality, Mycoplasma, Abortions, IBR, Teaching Buiatrics in the future, Genetic diseases) will be discussed. Eight optional workshops dealing with Lameness, Caesarean section, Large dairy farms, Oestrus detection, Abomasal displacement, Metabolic status and reproductive activity, Ultrasonography, Quality risk management (HACCP) will make the scientific programme complete. In these sections English will be used as a main language.
We are also very pleased to inform you that until presently 2000 participants without accompanying guests registered for the congress.
We would greatly appreciate if you were able to encourage your colleagues who did not register yet to join us.
The Jubilee WBC is going to be a passing fair event dedicated to the promotion and development of bovine (ruminant) medicine and the celebration of the Jubilee Congress.

3. We would like to call your attention to the registration fee of the retired colleagues

by which the Hungarian Association for Buiatrics would like to contribute to the participations of several founding colleagues of your associations. You may also support them if their general health status can make possible for them to join us to celebrate together the XXV Jubilee WBC.
