A. Attendance and scientific programme
Upon invitation of the Spanish Association for Buiatrics (AVEBU), the 15th Congress of the Wor1d Association for Buiatrics was held in Palma de Mallorca from October 11th to 14th, 1988. More than 900 veterinarians, and 300 accompanying persons, coming from 31 countries, participated in an excellent scientific and social program, the preparation of which had been in the hands of the professors Dna. M.A. Orden, J.M. Gonzalo, D.P. Garcia Partida, and D.F. Prieto Montana. 252 papers and 47 posters covering the following topics were presented: Diseases of the newborn calf, Immunology, Metabolic diseases, Diseases of the nervous system, Morphopathology, Nutrition, Mastitis, Physiology, Respiratory diseases, Diseases of the digestive Organs; Microbiology, Viral diseases, Parasitology, Management, Surgery, Reproduction, Continuing Education, Miscellaneous: (The Congress Report, two volumes with a total of 1590 pages, may be obtained from: AVEBU, Ap. Correos 699, Facultad de Veterinaria, E-24 080 LEON/Spain). During the inauguration ceremony, the Gustav-Rosenberger-Memorial-Award, donated by the Nederlandse Groep Geneeskunde van het Rund in acknowledgement of the achievements of Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. G. Rosenberger, one of the founders and the first Secretary of the W.A.B., was bestowed upon Dr. Alfredo Solana, and handed to him by Mrs. S. Rosenberger. Everybody attending this congress returned inspired by the great amount of knowledges contained in the scientific "input" and by the unique opportunity to meet friends and specialists from all over the world. The sympathic ambience and environment contributed much to the success of this congress
B. At the Meeting of the Board (28 participants) and at the General Assembly of the
Members of the W.A.B., the following developments were discussed and approved:

| the Fachgruppe Rinderproduktion der wissenschaftl. Gesellschaft für Veterinärmedizin der Deutschen Demokratischen Republik (President: Dr. Böhme; Secretary: Dr. Kalbe), and |
the Japanese Association for Buiatrics (President: Dr. K. Usui; Secretary: Dr. K. Hamana) were affiliated as associate members of the W.A.B. and requested to make the activities of the W.A.B. known to their own members. |
C. Nominations of national correspondents:
- Dr. J.N. Situma from Kampala/Uganda,
- Mr. Cheng Zongh from Nanning/People Republic of China, and
- Dr. Byeong Cheon Lee from Kyunki-Do/South Korea
Prof. Dr. M. Stöber (Hannover/FRG ) retired from his task as secretary and was nominated Honorary Secretary of the W.A.B. - Prof. Dr. P. Lekeux (Bruxelles /Belgium) was nominated as the new W.A.B. Secretary (address: 45, Rue des Veterinaires, B-1070 Bruxelles - Belgium). - A resolution, proposed by Prof. Dr. A.D. Weaver (Columbia/Missouri-USA), was unanimously approved: "The W.A.B. welcomes the affiliation of specialist groups related to cattle diseases and management within the framework and constitution, and within the scientific program of the Congresses of the W.A.B.
D.The next W.A.B. Congresses will be held in 1990 in Salvador de Bahia/Brazil
